This unique collector´s edition offers extraordinary adaptation of historical continuity and Christian civilization by academic sculptress Ľudmila Cvengrošová. Seven noble medals in one set depict portraits of Roman pontiffs reaching from Saint Peter to the current Pope Francis.

The author of the medals Ľudmila Cvengrošová drew attention of international public when she created the medal of John Paul II., which he has chosen as the only one into his private archive. This success inspired her to create the edition Popes in History which took her and her team almost five years of work.

From the overall 266 popes the history knows, the edition focuses on depicting 134 popes. The “Popes in history” edition in this range is a unique work in the world. The medals are produced by The Mint of Mincovňa Kremnica in three versions – golden, silver and tombac in limited amounts.

Integral part of the edition is also exclusive publication in seven languages (Slovak, Polish, English, German, French, Spanish and Italian). The author of the text is Mons. Prof. ThDr. Viliam Judák PhD., Bishop of Nitra.

This extraordinary and unique project reflects deeply rooted Christian traditions in Slovakia. Moreover, the universal subject of the project is able to address huge part of the world and therefore is also for Slovakia a very efficient way to let the world know about us.
